BMW has sold the medium sized luxury crossover SUV the X5 since the year 1999. The BMW X5 comes with all wheel drive and a line of V8 and straight six Configurations. For models outside of the United States of America, a 3.0 L diesel Configuration is available.
The history of the car can be traced back to the late ‘90s, when designer Chris Bangle began drawing sketches from his studio in California. The car closely resembles the sketches that Bangle made at that point. In the year 2004, the BMW X5 received a face-lift. In addition to getting new headlights, the BMW X5 also received upgraded Configurations, new exterior colors, and a brand new four wheel drive system. This gave the car a more aggressive appearance than it had previously boasted. The grilles were made bigger, and their actual slats were modified to give it a flame surfaced appearance. The taillights of the BMW X5 were also refreshed in a vein similar to the BMW E39. The car was also given a new four wheel drive system that had recently been invented by BMW. This system is now known as xDrive. It is shared between the X3 and the X5.
